Faith Development

Caring for every aspect of those it comes into contact with is what the YMCA is all about. It is summed up in the famous YMCA red triangle sign, which represents the body, mind and spirit.

The Alpha Course

The Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren't churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend. It is a relaxed and open environment where tough questions such as ‘does God exist?’ and ‘what happens after death?’ can be asked. It is also a great opportunity to learn about other people’s beliefs as well as exploring the meaning of life.
Each Alpha Course usually runs for 10 weeks with a weekend away in the middle. At each session there is food or refreshments provided and a short talk followed by a chance for questions to be asked round your table (a small group of people you get to know over the 10 weeks).

Over 7,000 churches are currently running the Alpha course across the UK in rural and urban settings, including every major UK city. To find a course near you click here.
