Finding peace in the storms of life
REFLECTIONS: MAY 2010
One thing that always sticks in my mind is when two people were asked to draw a picture of their interpretation of peace.
One drew a picture of an idyllic scene, calm and beautiful, a lovely sunny day in the countryside, a lovely little stream running through it, birds in the sky, tranquil.
The other person drew a picture of a cliff and a ragging thunderstorm, lightening flashing and the wind howling.
In this cliff was a little nest tucked into the rock where a mother bird was feeding its young.
I think the second picture is the true reality of life knowing Jesus. Life is not idyllic, the storms come but in the midst of it, we find our peace and trust in Him alone.
My own life has been a bit like that but He is always there and it is only God who brings that assurance.
Jesus said that in this world we would have trials and tribulations and that is probably the most believed verse in the Bible!
Prayer: Lord, although life brings its ups and downs, and can sometimes be very difficult, yet in the midst of it all You are there. Help us to put our hand in Yours, and to trust You to lead us each day knowing you will never leave us or forsake us.
