Chance to assess impact of faith on community

DanielSingletonWebNorfolk churches and Christian organisations have been offered a way of quickly assessing the impact they have on their local communities in order to help them with their work and possible funding bids.

Daniel Singleton (pictured right), national executive director of Faith Action, was in Norwich at the Transforming Norwich funding workshop on June 7 to explain how the Local Impact Assessment tool kit works.

Local Impact Assessments are a tool provided by Faith Action which is a partnership formed to raise the voice of the faith community as part of the Active Communities Directorate of the Home Office.

Susie Knights of YMCA Norfolk, who is using the assessments locally, said: “Many churches and faith-led organisations are consistently delivering social welfare and public services within the community, often with little recognition or financial support.

“The Local Impact Assessment will enable churches, faith groups and local charities to get a sense of their worth in a practical earthly sense and hopefully provide some useful data when applying for funding or support as well as encouraging staff, congregation or volunteers. The results will also help us collectively to raise our profile within the county and engage with local and national government, funders and supporters.”

Churches and faith groups are invited to print out the attached pdf form, fill it in and send it back to Felicity Holland, Faith Action, 72-72 Mare Street, London, E8 4RT or to info@faithaction.net as soon as they are able to. If you want some help or advice on filling out the form, contact Felicity on 0845 094 6350.
